The Internet Wars – We Need You!

There’s a war out there, and our kids & foster kids are the casualties.

Your input wanted! We’re preparing a training course about protecting foster kids from online porn and sex trafficking, and need your help.

Fact: Foster kids are two to three times more likely to be victims of sexual crime as non system kids.

Accessing online content is literally so easy now, even a 2 year old can do it!

So how do we prevent our foster kids from sexting, or joining online sexual dating groups, or looking at online porn videos? Any foster parent who thinks that’s not happening isn’t facing reality.

A review and periodic monitoring of sexually graphic online content over the past few years clearly shows that we are in a losing battle. Websites may claim to not cater to teens and children, but the fact is, they are. And it’s getting worse!

Locking up cell phones, creating passwords to use the home computer, or “parental control” programs can all be circumvented by kids now. Their school mates share all the tricks to get around parental online restrictions.

It’s a war! As parents, we’re losing the battle and our kids are the victims.

What steps do you take in your home, or what are the policies of your agency to control access and exposure to online sex content?

Please complete the form below and share your experience with other foster parents.

Hopefully, together we can come up with workable strategies to deal with this issue.

Thank you!
